PCT day 13, Friday 9/18/2015, PCT mile 960 to 943, distance 17 miles
The night near Miller Lake was colder than expected. I added my puffy jacket, buff, and fleece hat to stay comfortable. In the morning I noticed a lot of condensation inside the tent and on the sleeping bag and the water in the bucket had a thin layer of ice on top. I had some clothes hung to dry, they were frozen stiff.
I had temps close to freezing often so I was surprised that I needed to add clothing. The new super light 900 fill bag may be more moisture sensitive than the lower qualities. Maybe I should change it?
I got up early so that I was on the way by 7 am. I wanted to be in Tuolumne Meadows early enough so that I could check for the best option to meet up with Susie.
One last look back onto Miller Lake as the sun was coming up.
About two hour later it had warmed up and I had a refreshment stop at a stream.
Beautiful meadow along Cold Canyon
Shortly after I met the first group of backpackers, in this case a guided tour from Lasting Adventures heading towards Twin Lakes. I talked a while with Scott who was happy to be on a fall tour in the backcountry since most requests were around Halfdome.
The Glen Aulin Camp was already shut down and people were busy disassembling it.
The nearby waterfalls were still nice though.
After Glen Aulin I encountered a lot more hiker as Tuolumne Meadows and the weekend were coming closer. There was lousy reception at Tuolumne Meadows but good enough to talk with Susie for the first time in almost two weeks.
I can't wait till tomorrow.
