Evolution Basin and some weather

Day 26, Thursday 10/1/2015 Evolution Creek PCT mile 851 to Wanda Lake mile 840, distance 11 miles

I took some time this morning to clean up as the weather forecast indicated that there may not be an opportunity later today.

Evolution valley is so pretty.

I stopped by the McClure cabin, rain started shortly afterwards.

Time for rain gear. The Luke's Ultralight Silnylon rain jacket and the ULA rain skirt are my favorite pieces of rain gear.

I met four other hikers being on short local hikes and one nonstop hiker who didn't even stop to say hi.

The lakes in Evolution basin are so pretty, too bad that the weather wasn't better.

At Sapphire Lake the rain turned to sleet and then graupel.

As I came close to Wanda Lake there was thunder overhead so I decided on stopping early instead of going over the pass. I setup my tent with view of the lake and Muir pass.

Later in the afternoon the weather cleared up, but the time was a little short for getting over the pass so I decided to stay.
