Today was time for resupply in Independence. I had arranged to be picked up at the Onion Valley trailhead by 1 pm. I left early because I didn't know how long the seven mile hike would take if the trail is still icy in the morning.
The trail was better than expected and shortly after 9 am I was already on Kearsarge pass.

A few days ago I noticed that I had worn off the carbide tips on my trekking poles. During the last few days I had used them as sparingly as possible, only for the really steep sections and carrying them otherwise. They were worn down to the last little bit when I arrived. Luckily I will have new ones waiting for me in Independence.
The Hike and Swim team caught up with me as I was waiting and they enjoyed their resupply bucket.
